RECOMMENDED MACINTOSH SYSTEM SETTINGS
The MultiMedia Literature programs require the Modern Memory Manager to be turned OFF. Please note that this option is not available with OS 7.6 or higher. See the section in this document regarding the Modern Memory Manager and this program for the workaround. It is also best if Virtual Memory is off, and to set the CACHE to its minimum. These can all be checked by clicking on the Apple on the top left corner, choosing Control Panel, and finally MEMORY. If turning off the Modern Memory Manager is NOT an option, then the user is probably using system 7.6 or higher.

Issue: Multimedia Literature on a Mac tells me that I need to turn off my Modern Memory Manager.

Solution: MMLit version 1.2 on the Macintosh requires the MMM to be off. If you get the message, then go to the Apple icon on the top left, choose the control panel and go to memory. Turn OFF the modern memory manager.

However, if you are using OS 7.6 or higher on your Mac, then you are unable to turn off the MMM. To work around the problem open up the CD on your computer and look for a file called LAUNCH ### (where ### = a three digit number). Choose one of those files and double click on it to run your program.

Quickfix for Quicktime

QuickTime for Windows is very reliable. However in rare cases you can experience display problems or crashes when attempting to run QuickTime(r) movies or pictures. This is usually caused by older or poorly written system video drivers reporting incorrect video hardware configuration information. If this occurs you can almost always use the QuickTime(r) control panel to work around the problem:

1) Open the Windows Control Panel:
-In Windows 95, select Start...Settings...Control Panel. If you see two QuickTime control panels, perform steps 2-4 on both of them.
-In Windows 3.1 double-click the Control Panel icon in the Main program group.
2) Double-click the QuickTime control panel icon.
3) Click the More button, then click the Video tab at the top of the window. The video page will appear.
4) Click Video Driver in the Draw Method box, then click Apply. Click close to shut down the QuickTime control panel.
5) Restart Movie Player or the appropriate application to try again.
6) If the application still does not work, repeat steps 1-4, and choose a slower draw method (listed in the Draw method box from fastest to slowest).

If you still have display problems, make sure you have installed the latest video driver from your computer manufacturer.
