e-Journal students can write and publish journal-style
articles in Internet-ready form. e-Journal will
allow them to create an online magazine to share with classmates, parents,
and the community. Online instances of e-Journal: Online instances of e-Journal currently exist on the mhschool.com website. These Web versions require no install, and operate independently from the CD-ROM product. These are located at suggested point-of-use within the companion websites. |

INSTALLATION
TIPS:
|
||||
|
|
||||
Windows or
Macintosh:
Note: Before installing e-Journal, remove any existing versions of Java, XML, MYSQL, and Tomcat services from the server you intend to use for e-Journal. This CD-ROM automatically
installs those services on your server. If you do not remove existing versions
before installing this CD-ROM, e-Journal
will not install properly. e-Journal’s Disc 1 should be installed to a Web server,
and users will access it though workstations connected to that server. Disc
II requires no installation. It is best to use e-Journal on an Intranet. If you plan to install the program on the Internet, be sure to review the Federal Trade Commission
guidelines for complying with the Children’s
Online Privacy Protection Act (COPA). Administrator
Log In: To start e-Journal, you must access the program
on the server to log in. If you don’t know the server’s Internet Protocol
(IP) address, consult your network administrator. Then, access Next, log in by typing the
administrator user name and
password. You are now ready to add
users, groups, and to setup sections. Students cannot use e-Journal until you do these tasks. |

|
Issue: Will this program run on Windows XP, 2000, NT 4.0,
ME, and Macintosh OS X? |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: Cursory testing performed on Windows XP,
2000, NT 4.0, and ME machines have not revealed any issues. On Macintosh, the program runs fine in
Classic Mode. Our customers
use a wide variety of operating systems and applications, and our software
must be developed to be used on some lower end systems to meet customer
needs. Because of this, we cannot guarantee
our software will always work as expected as new operating systems and other
applications are developed. We
encourage you to give our products a 'test drive' on any new system you plan
to implement. If you are not satisfied
with the performance of our product, we will do our best to deliver a
compatible product to you in a timely manner or refund your money. |

Solution: E-Journal is designed to be installed to a
web server. The CD-ROM contains software for Windows 2000 or NT
servers. Schools that do not use Windows servers may go online at www.mhschool.com to access the
Internet-based version of the program. |
