GENERAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

Issue:   Will this program run on Windows XP,  2000,  NT 4.0,  ME,  and  Macintosh OS X?

Solution:   Cursory testing performed on Windows XP, 2000, NT 4.0, and ME machines have not revealed any issues.  On Macintosh, the program runs in OSX and OS9.

Issue:  When I click on Interactive Textbook from the splash screen, it tries to connect to the internet through my internet connection but the book pages do not appear.

Solution:  We have seen this with AOL and some MAC users. To remedy the situation follow these steps:

Windows:

Create a favorite in Internet Explorer to launch the Pupil’s Edition:

  1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Close the opening splash screen if it appears.
  3. Open Internet Explorer.
  4. Go to the File menu and choose Open.
  5. Click the Browse button, browse to the CD-ROM, select the First.html file, and click Open.
  6. Click Open again.  The first page of the book should open in Internet Explorer.
  7. Go to the Favorites menu and choose Add to Favorites.
  8. Change the name of the favorite, if desired, and click Save

MAC:

Create a favorite in either Safari/Firefox or Mozilla:

  1. Double Click on Pupil’s Edition CD on the desktop.
  2. Click on First.html, click File then Open With.
  3. Choose the appropriate browser.
  4. Add the opening page to the Favorites. (This varies depending on the browser.  See the browser’s Help for assistance.)

To open the Pupil’s Edition in the future:

  1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Open the browser using the steps above.
  3. Go to the Favorites menu, and choose the favorite you saved earlier.

Issue:  Does the Pupil’s Edition connect to the internet?

Solution:  The program runs through the default web browser, but the files are actually read from the CD-ROM.  However, some of the games point to the www.mhschool.com website, which does require an active internet connection.
