Writer’s Assistant contains a variety of writing tasks to aid your students in personal, descriptive, narrative, expository, persuasive, creative, and business writing.

What is the User Name and Password to access this program?

 

How much hard drive space does this program use on the network?

 

When I try to install the High School version to my network, I get an error message “Cannot find the .dxr file”

 

How do I add Students to the program?

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Windows:

·         Pentium 1 100MHz or better (166MHz recommended)

·         Minimum 8 bit color, 16 bit color or higher preferred

·         Windows 95/98/NT4

 

Macintosh:

·         Power Macintosh 100MHz or better

·         Minimum 8 bit color, 16 bit color or higher preferred

·         Macintosh OS 7.5 or higher

INSTALLATION TIPS:

 

Windows 95/98:

1.       Click Start/Run

2.       Type X:\setup.exe (Where X equals your CD-ROM drive letter)

3.       Choose the appropriate type of installation; either Standalone or Network

4.       Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

 

Macintosh:

1.      Double click the Writer’s Assistant CD-ROM icon

2.      Double click the setup.exe icon

3.      Choose the appropriate type of installation; either Standalone or Network

4.      Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

 

Issue:  What is the User Name and Password to access this program?

Issue:  How much hard drive space does this program use on the network?

 

Solution:  640 MB of hard drive space is needed.

Solution:  There is a problem with the High School version at this time.  Editorial is in the process of updating this entire program and this problem will be addressed at that time.

Issue:  How do I add Students to the program?

 

Solution:  Log in as Administrator. Click on Master Lists. Add a Teacher. Click on Admin Home. Choose New Group.  Add a Group Name and assign a Teacher to the Group.  Click Admin Home. Click on Master Lists.  Now you can add Students.
