Interactive Conversation CD-ROM allows students to view the Conversation section of the text on video and become an active participant in the conversation.  They can listen and record their own responses.

 

ISSUES:

Is the product Windows/Mac?

 

Is this program networkable?

 

Windows

 

Will the program work on Windows XP and Vista?

 

The box where the video is supposed to display has a red X.

 

I am getting a Director Player Error that says a Script Error has occurred.

 

Mac

Will this program work on OS X and Mac Intel?

 

When installing QuickTime, it is asking for a registration number.

 

When playing the videos the machine freezes or they appear dark/fuzzy.

Pentium processor

166 MHz

Windows 98, 2000. CD’s dated 7/04 will run on  Windows XP and Vista.

32 MB RAM (64 recommended for Windows 2000)

1 MB free hard drive space

2X CD-ROM drive

16-bit color SVGA monitor, 640 x 480 resolution

Sound capability with microphone for recording

QuickTime 5.0 (provided on the CD)

Optional

LCD panel or large monitor for whole-class instruction and student presentations

Headphones for individual use in the classroom or computer lab

Y connection to plug two sets of headphones into one computer

120 MHz Power PC

MAC OS 8.1, OS9 CD’s dated 7/04 MACOSX, Mac Intel

INSTALLATION TIPS:

 

Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista

1.       Insert the Interactive Conversations disc into the CD-ROM drive.

2.       Double-click My Computer icon on your desktop.

3.       Double-click the icon for your CD-ROM drive.

4.       Double-click Setup.exe file and follow the onscreen instructions.

5.       If you computer already has QuickTime 5.0, stop here, if not continue with installation steps.

6.       Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar.

7.       Select Programs, next select Glencoe.

8.       Next, select Int Conv 2002.

9.       Finally, select QuickTime 5 Install and follow the onscreen instructions.

 

Macintosh:

1.      Insert the Interactive Conversations disc into your CD-ROM drive.

2.      When the window opens, double-click the Interactive Conversations icon.

3.      A window will display the Interactive Conversations and QuickTime Installer files.

4.      If your computer does not already have QuickTime 5, it must be installed now.

5.      Double-click on the QuickTime 5 Installer and follow the onscreen instructions.

6.      When asked for a registration number, leave the field blank.

ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

 

Issue:  Is the product Windows/Mac?

 

Solution:  Yes, the CD-ROM is a hybrid.

Issue:  Is this program networkable?

 

Solution:

  • Only for Buen Viaje  Spanish,Interactive Conversations CDs dated 7/04 are networkable.
  • The CDs dated prior to 2004 are not networkable and require the CD in the drive.

Windows

 

Issue:  Will the program work on Windows XP and Vista?

 

Solution:  The program was cursory tested on Windows XP Professional and Windows Vista. Program appeared to work just fine.

 

Our customer base uses a wide variety of operating systems and applications and our software must be developed to be used on some lower end systems to meet our customer needs.  Because of this, we cannot guarantee that our software will always work as expected as new operating systems and other applications are developed.  We encourage you to give our products a 'test drive' on any new system you plan to implement.  If you are not satisfied with the performance of our products, we will do our best to deliver a compatible product to you in a timely manner or refund your money.

Solution:

1.       For the 2002 from the CD. Install/Re-install QuickTime 5.

2.       Click Start- Programs-Glencoe-French Int Conv 2002.

3.       Click on QuickTime 5 Install.

MAC

 

Issue:  Will this program work on OS X and Mac Intel?

 

Solution:  Versions prior to CD’s dated 7/04 will not operate in the native OS X, but will work fine when the Classic mode initiates. CD’s dated 7/04 and later will run on OSX native and Mac Intel.

Issue: When installing Quick Time, it is asking for a registration number.

 

Solution:  Page 4, step 3, of the booklet that accompanies the CD (in the jewel case) states that our version does not require a registration number to install. Click ok to bypass this message.

Issue:  When playing the videos the machine freezes or they appear dark/fuzzy.

 

Solution:  On Mac OS 9.1 there are two extensions on the A/V machine which, when turned off, eliminate this problem. These extensions are video acceleration related, and listed on the computer as follows:

 

ATI Rage 128 3D Accelerator  v5.9.8

ATI Resource Manager 2.7.3
