INSTALLATION TIPS:

 

Windows 95/98:

  • Insert the Glencoe Social Studies Primary Source Document Library CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  • Access the CD-ROM drive. If you do not have Acrobat Reader on your hard drive, install it by following these steps:
  • Click the Start menu and select Run.
  • Type X:\AcroWin\setup.exe (X equals the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM Drive.)
  • Click OK.
  • Follow the prompts to install Acrobat Reader.

 

Macintosh:

  • Insert the Glencoe Social Studies Primary Source Document Library CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  • Double click on the CD-ROM icon.
  • Double click on the folder called Acrobat.
  • Double click on the file called Reader Installer.
  • Follow the prompts to install Acrobat Reader.

To Start the American History Primary Source Document Library Program:

Once the installation is complete, restart your computer.

 

  • Double-click on the file named "Welcome" on the CD-ROM. This will allow you to view the Main Menu screen within Adobe Acrobat Reader©.
  • From the Main Menu screen, move your mouse to direct your cursor over the icons or button areas of the screen. As the cursor is moved over a link, it will change from a hand to a pointed finger.
  • Clicking on the links will enable you to navigate your way through the CD-ROM. Note the following Master Navigation icons:

a) Clicking on the Exit arrow in the upper right-hand area of the screen allows you to quit the program.

b) Clicking on the Main Menu icon in the lower right-hand area of the screen returns you to the Main Menu screen.

  • The bookmarks on the right side of the screen can be used to navigate through the CD-ROM.
  • Clicking on a bookmark will bring up the entry listed for that bookmark.
  • For further instructions click on the Quick Tour icon on the Main Menu screen.

ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

 

Issue:  Does this product work on Windows 2000, Windows NT and Windows ME?

 

Solution:  This product has been tested on all three platforms with no problems.

Our customer base uses a wide variety of operating systems and applications and our software must be developed to be used on some lower end systems to meet our customer needs.  Because of this, we cannot guarantee that our software will always work as expected as new operating systems and other applications are developed.  We encourage you to give our products a 'test drive' on any new system you plan to implement.  If you are not satisfied with the performance of our products, we will do our best to deliver a compatible product to you in a timely manner or refund your money.
